Crete Park of Commerce Detention Pond Shoreline Stabilization

Crete, Illinois
Project Period: 2009 – 2011

Project Highlights
  • Stabilized 3,188 ft of detention pond slope with native vegetation
  • Successful stabilization within 3 years

LRMG was contracted by Crete Park Commerce in Spring of 2009 to provide design-build services for naturalized bank stabilization of approximately 3,188 feet of detention pond shoreline. We proposed to the client varying design approaches based on degrees of severity of erosion in the field to reduce installation costs.

A three-year adaptive management plan was designed and implemented to ensure successful estasblishment of native vegetation. The pond slope has now been stablized and has weathered several major rain storms and was able to withstand sustained wave actions.

LRMG effectively communicated and explained to us the benefits of a naturalized approach involving bio-engineering and native landscape management…. Our erosion problems were corrected through LRMG's adaptive management approach to efficiently establish native vegetation…. LRMG exceeded our expectations.
