Landscape Architecture and Green Space Planning

Our engineers, landscape architects, and ecologists work in a studio environment utilizing interdisciplinary expertise to create ecologically based landscape architectural plans. In-house professionals employ a thorough knowledge of native and ornamental plants of our region.

Natural Area Restoration, Management and Monitoring

Our experts perform on-site inspections and evaluations which are used to create innovative yet practical plans for native area restoration, stream and pond enhancement, bank stabilization, and new naturalized stormwater treatment areas. Our experience and research produce the most effective management guidelines and performance criteria for conservation areas. We monitor these areas, evaluate their performance, suggest improved strategies, and compile reports required for their acceptance by regulating municipalities and agencies. We have the knowledge and resources to provide on-the-ground adaptive management services including site construction management, exotic/invasive species control, native seed and plug installation, erosion control installation, and prescribed fire.

We proactively navigate our clients through the wetland permitting process to help them reach their objectives. Our experience of working with regulatory branches of the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, State Natural Resources Conservation Services, and State Departments of Natural Resources guides our mitigation design, drives efficient site planning, and reduces permit review time.

Natural Resources Evaluation

Our team of professional plant ecologists, natural resources biologists and water resources experts has the practical field experience, taxonomic skills, and regulatory expertise to accurately and efficiently identify and assess a diverse array of natural resources in the Midwest. High quality mapping of resources can be established with GIS software. Our staff is continually updating their knowledge through advanced professional training. LRMG’s wealth of in-house expertise is enriched through our professional affiliations and association with academic colleagues and other professionals who bring particular focus to specialized areas of concentration when needed.

Water Resources Consulting

Management of stormwater quality has become an important and often critical factor in all site design development and infrastructure improvement projects. The need to control non-point source pollution while protecting buildings and infrastructure from increasing frequency and severity of flood events has resulted in more stringent stormwater regulations. Our engineers have extensive experience with state-of-the-art hydrologic and hydraulic models, allowing us to design stormwater management systems that incorporate structural and non-structural Best Management Practices (BMPs) to improve water quality. Our design not only meets regulation requirements but oftentimes results in infrastructure cost-savings to our clients because of our practical yet innovative solutions.
